Shitennoji Temple

The focus of our day today was our visit to the Shitennoji Temple. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan.

One very interesting thing about it was that it had a pond outside the main building that was populated with an incredible number of turtles.

There were three separate "islands" of turtles, each brimming with them. There were also several more swimming in the water, and even one walking along the edge.

There were also smaller shrines within the Temple, this one in particular stood out. It had a small moat and bridge to itself, and an arch gateway (I need to learn the proper name for them)

We wandered for a bit after this, we were going to visit the Sutenkaku tower, but decided not to actually go up into the tower. We took a couple of pictures instead.

A few random pictures. A random picture of a tree. It isn't important to the plot, but I liked the picture, so up it goes; also some arctic creatures. I'm not sure if this was the parking lot to a nearby zoo, but I liked the penguins (Pingi!) so this picture goes up as well.

The other highlight of the day was visiting a few random arcades. I only played one game though, as most of them are fighting games, which I am no good at. The game I played was a drumming game.
For a laugh, read the text on the side of it.

Matt and Bramwell also played several fighting games, including Blazblue, Street Fighter 4, and King of Fighters.
Matt seemed to do very well at a couple of the games, getting to the final boss in KoF and beating Blazblue, on a single life in each game. Go team.
