Nikko and Tokyo Life

So we arrived in Tokyo on May 16th. Our hostel is located in Asakusa, which has a much more traditional feel then the rest of Tokyo. We are literally a couple of minutes away from one of the main temples in Tokyo. The first night was explored the local areas and tried some Indian food. On the next day we walked to Ueno Station and headed to Akihabara. Akihabara is basically the district where they sell all things computer related, video game related or anime related. It was a truly impressive place to visit.

On May 18th we headed north to Nikko. Nikko is famous for having a lot of old shrines and also being the resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu. It took about 2 hours to get their, but it was well worth it. Nikko is very beautiful and full of things to see.

Daily Vending Machine and Sign

We found this epic vending machine is Nikko. The sign was all over a shrine in Kyoto.

Some pictures of the shrine that is near us.

The Indian food we had. It was really spicy.

So this giant chief on our way to Ueno station.

Some random pictures of Akihabara. Oddly enough I did not take a lot of pictures while wandering around.

Curry for lunch!

Akihabara is known for having a lot of maid cafes in it. There are a lot of girls dressed in maid outfits on the street handing out fliers. It seems I was handed quite a few in my short trip.

Pictures of us heading up to the shrines in Nikko.

There was a lot of uphill sloops to get to the shrines.

Lots of nature.

This was the three monkey shrine. There were a lot of random little shrines like this that are all pretty unique.

This is the main shrine that I wanted to see. The amount of detail inside and out is truly amazing.

I love taking shots like this.

We managed to find a bunch of trees that had bloomed.

Lunch! It took us forever to find food in Nikko because a lot of the food places were closed.

For some reason this photo uploaded sideways. I bought a bunch of snacks when we got back from Nikko.

Sorry for the quick post. There is a lot of see in Tokyo. Nikko was a very beautiful place to visit.
