Day 9 - Nara, Day 10 - Kyoto

For Day 9 we crawled out of bed and made our way to Nara around 11am. We meet with my friend Hiroki and explored Nara. We saw a lot of deer, eat some delicious food, saw lots of school tours and saw some pretty sights. We ended up having some ramen for dinner and mochi for dessert. We concluded our day by going back to the hostel and I ended up watching Gangs of New York.

On Day 10 we headed out for Nijo Castle in the rain. It was a very wet day, but the rain stopped just when we arrived at the castle. We got to see the inside of the castle which was filled with beautiful paintings on the walls. The castle itself was also surrounded by gardens. After Nijo Castle we headed for the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The Imperial Palace grounds were really huge and it took maybe 10mins to reach the outside of the palace. We concluded the day by heading to the Kyoto Manga Museum. The museum was very impressive. The amount of history they had packed into one place was really fun to look through. It is also interesting to note that the museum used to be a school.

Daily Sign and Vending Machine

I took a picture of a vending machine with the Nara mascot on it. There is also a lot of signs to warn people of the deer. We were alright though because the picture indicates they only attack old ladies and little kids.

Looking out the window in the morning.

Awesome pagoda.

The deer attack!

Sooooo many people!

In front of Todaiji.

There's the Giant Buddha. Bram was extra lucky and fit through the pillar.

Over looking view.

A lone deer. He posed for us.

Hiroki's favorite place. (He recommended bringing girls here =p)

A line of sake.

I like the contrast of the red and green.

Dinner - Ramen!

Day 10

It is raining. Bramwell has fresh bread in his bag.

It's Nijo Castle! The moat is really big!

The castle had tons of beautiful gardens.

Well we were in Nijo Castle a bunch of Jr high school girls (?) came up to us wanting a picture. The teacher with them also offered to take a picture with our camera. It was pretty funny. When we told them we were from Canada one of the girls yelled: "Maple!".

Gardens and a rock garden.

Manly pose!

The palace was so far away. We also saw tons of gardens and shrines in the palace grounds.

We decided to try Japan's equivalent to fast food. The fast food chain is called 'Mos Burger'. I felt the burger was pretty good, but not enough.

There were tons of pictures I left out, but I don't want to be here all day. Back to exploring!
